THINGS I WISH I HAD SAID TONIGHT

To everyone at CMC,

There were so many things I wanted to say tonight but I had to stop talking and sit down 'cause I was starting to get choked up in my throat and felt tears erupting from my eyes. I didn't want to cry in front of you guys again. But as Christine and I were driving home, we both cried in silence, wiping tears at each stop light, thinking about all the things we've been through at CMC. There are so many things I'm thankful for. I've been at CMC for 8 years and during that time, I've gained some great memories, as well as brothers and sisters that I could have lifelong fellowship with. Thank you everyone. I wish I could tell you all this in person but I don't think I can. So here are some things I wish I had said tonight.

To my bible study class - Thank you for coming out to our class on Sundays. I don't know how much you've learned from me but if there is one last thing I want to teach you, it's that I did it all because I love God, not because I love you guys. I do care about all you guys dearly and I'll be there for any of you whenever you need me but it's my love for God that allowed me to serve for the last 6 years. As you guys become seniors in high school and freshmen in college, God will begin to show you His will for you and His plans for you. As you follow God and serve Him, do it out of your love for Him. Don't do it because that's what everyone else does, don't do it because that's what everyone says that's what you are supposed to do, don't do it because your parents tell you so, don't do it to impress some girls. Do it out of your love for God. I've known all you guys for a long time now and it's been a blessing watching all you guys grow. Let's meet up again soon.

To all the teachers in elementary, youth group, and AWANA - Thank you so much for serving the Lord. It's very encouraging to see all you guys teach in our education department. Please remember that we are in the business of dealing with eternal souls. What you teach now has eternal consequences in these kids. It's tough work with no salary/benefits but God must have a reason for picking you for this job. It's crazy to think that most of you guys were in youth group while I was serving as the intern next to pastor Peter Ma. There were times when I didn't know how to deal with you guys. Man, it was frustrating and draining each week but I did what I could and prayed for you whenever I had the chance. I remember praying for each of you by name, asking God to make you into mature leaders and that all you guys would use your talents/gifts for His ministry. God has answered those prayers in delightful and surprising ways. It's really encouraging to see all you guys work so hard. Thank you for serving the Lord.

To our cell group - Thank you for coming over all the time. Everything we did was so fun for some reason. Even if it's just watching TV, it was so fun with you guys. I had a great time studying the ten commandments with you guys and praying each week. Praying with you guys was like a breath of fresh air. It encouraged me a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I pray that one day, all of you will lead your own cell group in one way or another. Call me if you guys wanna come over and BYOB.

To everyone in the leadership committee - Thank you for putting your heart into our EM. I have so much respect for all you guys. I enjoyed all of our meetings and hearing how much our church means to you guys and how much you want it to grow. It was impossible not to shed tears during those talks and prayer times. It was such a blessing to be with you guys and I've learned so much about leading a church and how much effort goes into it. Sorry for leaving you guys like this but I do feel that this is the way that God is leading us. We'll continue to be in prayer for CMCEM.

Thank you everyone.

Sincerely,
Gerry

Then he got all pissed and said, "Didn't I just tell you that I don't like that?" He also stared at Kevin and yelled, "Can you tell your friend that I don't like that?!" We ran outta there before something happened.

Buon Compleanno A Te!

Thanks to everyone that wished me, called me, texted me, facebook messaged me a happy birthday. Thanks to everyone that came out to my annual surprise birthday dinner at Mac Grill last night. Thanks to everyone that bought me a gift/dinner/drinks. Thanks to that lady who sang the birthday song to me in Italian again. And thanks to my wifey who organized everything and got me a PS3.
